The round ball in a plastic shot cup wad should work well, and is a bit more tolerant of diameter and choke than a tight fitting naked lead ball. But as the Tanner mould is available in your choice of diameter, there is something to be said for one tight enough to take just a very narrow belt around its middle in a barrel with little or no choke.

Has anyone tried 0.732" in rifled gun?

I found some of the 0.735" RB's I shot in a borrowed rifled gun and the "belt" is pretty small even at 0.735". I am wondering if 0.732" will hold to rifling or skid. Roll in the barrel may be an issue too if there isn't some deformation.

I'm with Bob in St. Louis here. I'd love to get another Mihec mould or two and two cavity brass round ball moulds are very appealing but work has been scarce for me over the last few months so I will pass for now at least. Also since I already have round ball moulds in the sizes I need it is hard to justify... except I'd really like a double cavity 0.678" brass mould! I'll see how funds are when moulds are run and maybe buy an extra. Best I can do for now.

I was looking at Jeff Tanners web page and you are right and for the money this looks like a great place to buy round ball molds. From the photos the quality looks very good.

I want one or both of the group buy molds.. As someone new to 12 gauge loading, can someone explain the basics of loading each option? The big would use felt wad or something over the powder while the small would fit in a modern plastic wad? I am currently only loading the Lyman sabot slug mold.

skeet1 - I have a couple of Jeff Tanner moulds and several Lymans. If I were to buy, it would be Jeff Tanner all the way. FWIW ?

The Tanner mould will give you one proud sprue
Mihec mold with a sprue plate will blow the doors off a Tanner mold.

For the full bore, get a powder/gas seal. I would use a hard/nitro card and then filler wads on top of the seal as needed to build a good column. I like the X12X or the FS12 Flex Seal.
Get the manual from Balllistic Products which will make this clear. I would get both the Buckshot and the Slug manuals.

Thanks! Would full bore be better for some reason than the smaller with Wad?

For the larger one, would it be best to powder coat if I wanted to try shooting in rifled barrel?

No one could say it would be better without trying it in your barrel. Open smooth/rifled barrels vary in diameter from around 726" to 730"
If you are not getting both, the smaller ball in a wad has more universal application.
I would only powder coat if the added thickness is not problem as few people, if any, could size a round ball.
