    Swiss Vetterli bolt?

I recently acquired a Swiss Vetterli M71 rifle, which I am excited about. I plan on converting it to centerfire but don't want to alter the gun. So I am in the market for another bolt but before I post in the S&S forum I wanted to know if the M71 and M78 bolts are interchangeable?

If you don't get an answer here you might try the Swiss rifles board, lot of good help there. I just got a M78 up and running, and I am now officially hooked on Swiss Vetterli.

While I am not an expert, I do believe that the bolts are interchangeable.

Good luck finding another bolt. Nothing wrong in my opinion drilling a small firing pin hole in the bolt. Most of the common Swiss rifles are not really collector items anyway. Either you want to shoot the rifle or hang it on the wall to just look at it. Don"t worry their no market for 41 swiss rim-fired ammo being made again. Most people who buy old Swiss rifles want to shoot them. That the reason i bought mine.

When you tear it apart then look at the cartridge elevator and double firing pin and think of the good old venerable Henry rifle.

I believe I have an unaltered "spare" Swiss Vetterli bolt floating around in my shop. PM me if you want to make a deal.
