I picked up a Lee Pro 1000 to do my pistol and 223 depriming. I put my universal decapping die in the first station and leave to other two empty, load up the tubes using the collator, then run them through. Really speeds up the depriming process and eliminates a lot of handling. Then off to the SS pin tumbler.

This is what I did with my Pro-1000's after I had upgraded to Hornady LnL presses and SS cleaning.

BP before anything else, like going home, otherwise generally not as a seperate operation--unless fooling with old tools, like Ideal 310's where it is a separate operation

I voted always but really it would be usually. I mostly wet tumble and if the primer is out of the case the primer pocket will get clean. Also, the cases dry quicker.

if it is once fired military I decap with a pinch and use the bottom of the lee tool for it. that way I am not breaking recapping pins on berdan primed cases.

I decap/deprime pistol using my drill press, faster than a reloading press

Centering fixture is 2 stacked fender washers, with the top one having a rim diameter hole, mounted on a 1x4.
The bottom 2x4 has a big hole to collect the spent primers.

    I have a top board for 9mm, 357, 45ACP

edit: if a primer takes more pressure to push out, I know it's been crimped, so I turn it over and hand chamfer the crimp out.

Very innovative! I guess I need to upload pix of my drill press converted into a case trimmer but that's another topic!

I decap with one of several tools (depends on a few things) lately mostly the Franklin Arsenal tool, once I'd wrapped its' handles so it's not so uncomfortable. Keeps GRUNGE out of the good press and means the primer pockets are clean.

Poll does not have an answer that meets what I do. I store my brass ready to load without the primer. I clean all of my brass before sizing it. There are times that I decapp before I clean the brass. Then I resize it after cleaning. I use a tumbler with stainless still pins so it cleans the primer pockets also. Most of the time I clean the brass then decapp and resize in the same process. Then I clean the brass again and use a little liquid car wax for a final tumble after this cleaning. I have some of my rifle brass that I decapp clean and then resize, trim and clean again according to the rifle I am prepping it for.

I only deprime separately for rifle and I use a primer pocket reamer as well. With pistol I can't shoot well enough to tell any accuracy difference.

I have just a single stage press. I clean my brass first (primed in Walnut media)...then decap/size after the cleaning. Then to remove the case lube it goes back in the tumbler (walnut/corn mix) for 20 minutes. I clean primer pockets by hand with a RCBS wire brush cleaner and make sure all flash holes are clear using a wooden toothpick.

Its been working for me for many years...but I don't reload in a huge volume, so I can do it without it taking too much of my time.

"It depends", for me. Same with priming off press.
