    MP HP mold

How do you install the pins? As in do you use loctite or something on the threads?

My thought with my new mold today is just hand tight. Might want to change out later.Click image for larger version.

The small pins that screw into the hollow point pen do not need to be screwed tight. They actually work better if there was a little bit of play in the threads between the small pin and the hollow point pin

In addition to having the horizontal pins a little loose, I have found that only 1 "E" clip per set is needed to secure that pin to the mould half. I must have a dozen of those little "E" clips in orbit in my shop!
It's all chicken, even the beak!

If you install clips on the upper set of stems expect the handles to knock them off. You only need to install them on the lower stems. And I sure hope the mold is never to cold. The OP is going to have a had time knocking the sprue plate open w/ it facing the handles like that

huh....thats how I have it facing on my handles. works fine for me, but I preheat the molds for awhile first.

I know everyone has their preference. I run mine w/ the sprue plate opens towards you, not away. This way the handles aren't in the way if you have to whack it open. I preheat mine as well but every now and then one needs a good whack

I run mine loosened by a quarter turn.
I also have used a graphite pencil on the point of the hollow point pins to keep boolits from sticking.

+1 -> CPL Lou. I also pencil rub the stems to lubricate them.

I also put my handles on the wrong side, that's the whole reason for my post in this section, as soon as I saw that post all my troubles were solved!!!!! I used the lube that came with the mold to lube the pins, just a dab with a qtip, and very nice boolits fell easily from the mold! it's the nicest tool I own, now once I use it with the spure opener on the correct side I'll be rocking and rolling.

That's how I run mine and open mold by pushing on sprue plate with a gloved thumb. No tapper and keeps speed up.
