I'm sorry for your loss, Jon. One possible answer to your question is that some of the drugs and sometimes just the physiology of getting older makes it harder to enjoy cold weather. It's a bummer that he decided against a pacemaker but it was his call to make, I know it's hard for you and your mom because it's hard to respect a decision you may disagree with. He's at peace and out of pain now.

Yesterday, at the end of my Dad's funeral, during the Military Honors, which was a combined effort by both the Aitkin American Legion and the Aitkin VFW, Taps were played.

I spent many Memorial day services with my Dad in my hometown where he would play Taps as a member of the American Legion.

Anyway, during the funeral, is was a bit breezy and while Taps were played, about half way through, the breeze seemed to pick up. I immediately felt dad's presence and am quite sure he was pleased to hear Taps at this celebration.

Very sorry for your loss. I still think of my dad every day even though it's been six years.
