My Dad Passed away this morning

As some of you know from my posts in the last six months, that my 89 yr old Dad has had failing health.

In the last two decades, he's had several surgeries around his heart, from Stints to bypass to valve replacements. More recently...he has been in and out of the hospital a lot lately with inflammation/fluid around the heart and/or in his lungs.

This spring a Doc strongly recommended he get a pacemaker, but he declined [my Mom reluctantly agreed]. He appeared to be getting better in the last month, but his heart beat and breathing have still been weak. Also in this last month, the Doc [and other doctors...and my Mom] had been working some more, on my dad to get a pacemaker...my Dad was seemingly on board and was ready to discuss that more with doctors at the next appointment.

    I will Miss you Dad.

A story I posted on my FB page
My Dad passed away this morning.
I've had a unimportant lingering question, that I've been meaning to ask him, and I guess it will go on lingering...
I like the change of the seasons, and as a good Minnesotan, I like the winter, I only hope it doesn't last too long. Anyway, in the first 20 years of my parents retirement, they went south for the winters. The first year that my parents went south for the winter, when they came back in the spring, my Dad had a lot of stories, Mostly about how much he liked the south. I asked my Dad, "Didn't you miss the winter? I always thought you liked the winter?" My Dad told me that he didn't like the winter and had been looking forward to going south for retirement for a long time.
That answer was perplexing to me. For many years, before their retirement and we lived by the lake. We'd plow off a large ice rink for ice skating, we always had snowmobiles, We would go ice fishing, cross-country skiing, tobogganing, and for a couple years [in my early teens] we even made an ice coated luge track on the hill down to the lake. We always had fun in the winter.
I tell this story, almost every time I'm with friends and the topic of Minnesota winter comes up, and that's when I think about the question I want to ask my Dad next time I see him. You see, I generally gauge my aging process to my Dad's aging process, and I still love winter. So, Dad, when did you start disliking the Minnesota winters?

    RIP Dad

He may be gone physically but he will be with you forever. I lost my Dad 25 years ago and there is not a day that goes by that I don't think of him with fond memories. May God Bless both of you.

    Jon,
I remember My fathers life and miss him every day. The good times with him gradually take over tend to bock out the bad times like his death. I hope you will find peace in the memory of the good times you had with him. Prayers for you and your family.
