    Subsonic 30-40

I have been shooting my Krag at 50 yards with the Lee 100 grain pistol plain base boolit and 3 grains of Bullseye. Accuracy is good US quarter size 5 shot groups. I would like to try other powders, I have Unique , 4227 , 2400 and Trailboss. Anyone have any ideas using these and what grain charges to stay subsonic? I like Bullseye but I would like to experiment with different powders . Thank you,Paul.

I suspect that of those only Trailboss and your already proven Bullseye will be happy that slow.

Agreed I'd stick to stuff in the bullseye burn range going that slow with a light bullet . With a heavier normal weight bullet the Unique would probably work ok too but in my experience its
hard to beat Bullseye for light loads

I think you're wise not to go to heavy bullets in order to be supersonic with considerable energy. They may be inadequately stabilized at low velocities. But the 100gr. will be fine.

I think that would depend on how heavy/long we are refering .I know for fact a Lee 185 is fine out to 200 yds starting subsonic in a 10 twist 30 cal

RU shooter, what powder and amount are you using in that subsonic 185 grain load?

Makes sense. My all time favorite plinking load is 6gr. Red Dot, 155gr. 311241.

Paul; I've been getting consistently better accuracy with my subsonic loads using Red Dot instead of Bullseye.
Not sure where you are in Oregon but I could set you up with a testing quantity of Red Dot if that would help.
    Best regards,

Thanks for all the feedback. At some point I will pick up some Red Dot if I see it on the shelf somewhere.Paul
