    NOE 403-200-WFN issue

I have a NOE 403-200-WFN mold that is casting bullets at .4065 using a Brinell 17 alloy.

I can run them through a .404 NOE push through sizer, but cannot get them through the .401 sizer afterwards, even when lubing the bullets.

What are my options? Should I contact NOE about it? Offload it and buy a .401-200-WFN mold from Accurate?

Does it cast .4065 round or is it wider 90 degrees from the parting lines?

I have that mold in a 4 cavity and it casts
.403-.4035 I believe and drops boolits like a dream.

If the bolits measure 0.4065 one way and 0.403 at the parting line, you might have some lead on the block face or alignment pins.

I can't imagine that it would cast 0.003" oversize and round but if it is NOE will take care of you. That is too large for the specs.

I have the same mold, the RG version for HP. They go thru a .402 or .401 noe sizer with no problems.

Bullets don't appear to be out of round, but I will mic them when I get home this evening.

Have you tried it with a different alloy? NOE moulds are designed for wheelweight alloy, perhaps yours is vastly different. I've had interesting things happen with some of the stuff I've gotten out of the "lead" barrel at the scrapyard.

I have not. Would there be that big of a difference (.003") between two different alloys?

I figured there might be .001" difference at most.

My alloy is 17 brinnell. Was planning do use it in stout 10mm loads. Most people are reporting 10-12 BHN for air cooled clip on wheel weights.

Do you think it would help if I mixed my current alloy with 50% COWW?

Bullets are round. They measure .4065' both ways.

There is no lead splatter on the block faces or alignment pins.

Size them the same day you cast so they are a bit softer

Tried that and they still wouldn't pass through. I'm going to remelt and add 50% COWW's and see what size they come to. They were a little light at 192 gr with the 17 BHN alloy anyway.

I cleaned the mold thoroughly again and recast some using COWW and they came out at .406" on the dot. My NOE .503 mold drops at .504" in contrast. I'll give Al a call.
