I have 3 NEI molds, 30,35 & 40 that are bore riders and use the NEI driving band to locate the boolit in the throat. They work great as naked boolits but when PCed, become too fat to go up unto the throat.
I "invented" a way to PC the lube grooves while leaving the bore rider portion bare.
Find a jar lid deep enough to cover the lube grooves (kinda like you would use in kake cutter lubing). Fill that lid with warm water to about a 1/4" below the top. Float the PC powder on the water. Grasp the boolit by the nose and dip it in, base first and swish about a bit. (Note: works best with frosted boolits as does shake and bake)
Set them down base first to dry. After drying, bake as normal. Then size and load.
These 35s now go all the way up into the throat of my 35 Whelen No. 1 rebore and the driving band (DD) is engraved by the lands.
To the range tomorrow to see how they do.
