NOE sizing die problems

Recently purchased the NOE sizing body die and B433 (body) bushing. Cast some bullets from my 432-290 GC mold and they come out .432. Powder coated them and they come out at .434-.435, then tried resizing and adding a GC and got multiple stuck inside the sizing die. Then I tried to size a bullet before I powder coated and they came out looking like this.


this has me puzzled. Not only should they not size at all but they look like they have been run over sandpaper. I can feel tool marks all the way through the bushing; I've never felt that through my Lee push through dies. My question is am I doing something wrong, did I get a lemon?

I can run the same bullets through my .430 Lee sizing die and not get anywhere near the lead smearing or tool marks.

what size do they come out of the sizing die?
if your squeezing them down .002 or so naked and another .002-3 when coated that's a lot of sizing,, especially doing it dry.
the boolit design itself isn't helping you here.

Wow, that's a lot of sizing (judging by your photo), time to get the micrometer out, and do some measurin'.

Also, I'll take your word on it, that you feel machining lines transfered to your boolits, but they sure look shiney and smooth in your photo. If you are sizing as much as the photo indicates, if the bushing has tool marks, it'd be a chore to push a unlubed boolit through, to say the least.

The Lee die takes half the effort to run the bullet through. The NOE die I have to put half my body weight on the press handle to get them to go through.

That's the weird part the ones that run through the NOE die come out at .433 while the one run through the Lee die come out at .430.

Thats what hat has me puzzled they shouldn't even size going through the NOE die.

Do the NOE sized boolits measure round ? The NOE sized examples, look like they were pushed through a die that is sightly fluted ?

If I run something over the inside of the die it's sounds like I'm scratching the ribbed side of a gift card (don't know how else to compare it).

yes the sized bullets do not seem perfectly rounded. Yes going to agree on the fluted part

The picture shows that you have an "apron" of lead displaced down over the GC step. That would seem to indicate you are moving a LOT of lead. No wonder it feels hard!

The trick is to size then coat, and size again. I also will give a spritz of WD40 to them before pushing them thru.

I'd get it back to AL.

those are a perfect picture of a fired round with trailing edge failure. [what happens when you shove too big of a boolit in your barrel]
it almost looks like rifling marks in the side of them too.
anyway that is EXACTLY what trailing edge failure looks like.

my lee sizer felt like a zipper when I got it as well, I used a felt or cotton gun cleaning jag, some medium grinding compound and a power drill to smooth it out, just stop and test it and don't keep going once it is smooth, unless it still needed to be bigger, but sounds like noe has your back

What you are experiencing is lead build up in your die..
The cause of the build up is running unlubricated bullets through the die..
I have had the same problem before I wised up and started lubricating bullets that have a long bearing surface and or being sized down quite a bit..
