Re-purposing Old Blunts A while back Uncle Al gave me I a couple hundred .38 specials topped with 148 gr. lead wadcutters. That's the upside. The downsides are that I don't like the looks of these "blunts" and of course they don't feed in my Marlin 1894c.
But most importantly, since I've converted over to powder coating...
my firearms' rifling shall never again be kissed by naked lead.
The new upside is, I've decided to "re-top" 'em with powder coated 150 grain round noses.
And here's how...- First we'll remove the old "blunts" using the kinetic bullet puller.
- Whack, whack, whack and the bullet and powder release from the case into the puller.
- Using a funnel we separate the bullet from the powder and replace the powder into the case.
Note: The cartridges were loaded with 2.6 grains of powder.
- One at a time we place the "powdered" cases in the loading block.
- Now they're ready to be re-topped with our new 150 grain poly jacketed bullets.
- We flair the case mouth then press and crimp the new bullets in place.
- Voilà! The new light load pastel beauties are ready for some fun plinkin'.
- Of course we'll repurpose the old blunts into shinny new rainbow colored round noses.
