    What lube to use?

New to cast scene, found a good lube for pistol and slow big bore rifle loads, but need a high velocity lube for .243, .257 and .30 cal bullets with gas checks. Bullets will be in the 100gr to 175gr range, I would like to get in the area of 2100 fps to 2400 fps range. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Welcome aboard.

There are three common board recommended lubes. The first is Felix World Famous Lube. There is a sticky of the recipe on the board.
If you aren't a do-it-yourself type, see Lar's, and/or Bullshop's sites at the bottom of this page.
    All are proven performers.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

I use 50/50 lithium grease and bees wax on everything. No leading up to 2000 in cf rifles,

Lithium has substantial viscosity. Your lithium content from the store-bought tube should be no more than about 8 percent in the form of a stearate. So, your lube, then, should amount to around 4 percent. Just so you'd know in case you would want to use lanolin for the same purpose. Lanolin can be used for BP, while lithium cannot (not water soluble). ... felix

So how much lanolin to bees-wax do you use, or is it used on its' own?
