    Hi power and promo

    Promo powder....woooo

this was done w my mk 3 hi power in pretty good shape. Done at 12 yards. One mold that was used was a 124 gr lee tunicated nose tumble lube style and a noe 128 gr fn plain based. These bullets were powder coated once and sized to .357

4.2 gr. size of my palm
4.6 gr. inside palm of my hand which I found acceptable
    5.0 gr. bullet cutter!!!!!

Promo is Red Dot speed so I would use red-dot as a comparison. This data seems awfully hot.

The Lee when loaded to 1.169 OAL with 5.0gr of Red dot is shown as pushing the 50k PSI mark in QL. Way way way too hot.

    Shoot!!!

1970 Lyman book says 3.5-4.9 gr.

quickloads should be right but I don't show anything that looks like 50k psi at all on my casings.

Someone just showed me spite what Lyman said about couple decades ago that alliant corperation said back in 1995 that a 124 gr bullet should use no more than 4.6 gr red dot powder. Thanks for questioning it guys and I'll stick w that data provided to me from alliant

Thanks to will and some data from alliant I'm squared away. By the grace of god I was safe for the moment and the cast boolit Angels got me back in line and much appreciation. Haven't blown a gun yet and will not for years to come as it looks. Thanks will!!!

I am using 4.4 grains of Red Dot under a 124 grain boolit in my 9mm, mostly 2 Hipoint carbines and a 9mm single shot handi rifle. I would not want to go any hotter.

I tried 3 rounds in my Hipoint C9 Pistol, thanks but no thanks.
Just a little on the wild side for my taste.

In the Carbines and the single shot it is a nice mellow load. In the pistol it is about 50% more lighting than I want to hold unless my life is in danger.

Be cautious going over about 4.3 - 4.4 grains of Red Dot. Bad things can happen.
