    Sear Sspring Question

I have a 1911 that is 25 years old and had the original springs in it. I went to do a tune-up with new springs and have a question.. What does the 'hook' on the left leaf do? I did replace the hammer and sear and the new spring doesn't even apply pressure to the sear. Do I need to shorten the 'hook' to make contact??

The left spring pushes against the trigger frame. Have you inserted the main spring housing to tension the springs, if not you need to in order to see how the springs align and bear. Good luck.

I would leave the sear spring that was in it. Those don't get weak like a coil spring does.
Got a .22 .30 .32 .357 .38 .40 .41 .44 .45 .480 or .500 S&W cylinder that needs throats honed? 9mm, 10mm/40S&W, 45 ACP pistol barrel that won't "plunk" your handloads? 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh cylinder that needs the "step" reamed to 6° 30min chamfer? Actually, the hook presses on the frame and the other half of the leaf pushes on the sear. I did find the info that I needed. Thanks.
