Favorite loads, IMR 4064

Good info everyone.

I loaded some for the '06 in a Springfield and Garand, 303 LE and 7.62x54R recently. I don't have the info in front of me so I'll include what I have when I do.

The 7.62x54R load was only a few rounds fired, will have to try it again. The 303 load with Speer 150's shot very well, need to try them at distance.

46 grains in 30-06 with a 150 grain fmjbt. It's M2 ball spec too. Or 24 grains in 223 on a hornady 55 grain fmj. That load might fill up the brass too much in a military case.

OK, 42 grains behind a Speer 150gr SP in Rem brass fired in a Lee Enfield #4mk1* was shooting between 3 and 4 MOA, issue sights.

It may do better but I've come to realize it's time to get the eyeballs checked, target getting way too fuzzy and indistinct.

Future test drives will be with a scoped rifle until the new specs come in.

32 gr behind a Lee 180 gr in the 94 30-30. It will lay three right in there. AC though instead of IMR. Got if for a good price when GM was down sizing the reloading department. I should have picked up that 4 lb can of IMR 3031 for under $40.

I assume you are talking about Accurate 4064. If that is the case, your 32 grain load (31556psi), shows much lower pressure than IMR's 4064,(40075psi), according to Quickload. Verrrrry interesting!

37 grains of IMR4064 and a 50 grain Nosler BT in a 220 Swift. Great prairie dog medicine.

38.7 grains under an AMax 123 grain in 6.5 Creedmoor produces a single hole at 100.

Just ran across my .308 data for my Winchester Feather Weight. Sierra 150gr. bt sptz. Remington cases, Remington LRP 45.5 gr. IMR 4064.

Again for the Feather Weight .308. Remington cases, Remington LRP, 47.5gr IMR 4064 under a Sierra 125 sptz.

Very good accuracy and moderate recoil in the slim Feather Weight.

165 GameKings over 4064 does the trick in my 308 , 7-30 Waters likes it too with 120 & 130 Sierra's

for medium bores- the 9.3X62 w cast 286gr. imr4064, or imr 4350? which would likely hit 2200fps with less pressure? which would you use?

I would use imr4064. Start load is around 2100 fps according to kodgdon reloading data web site. 4350 start loads will be around 2300 fps.

ok, thanks, I think it hits 2100 at like 52 grs, but not sure, I need to re-check. I want a soft start for the boolit, but still want to reach my goal!

IMR 4064 is one powder I would hate to live without. I don't use it in my 25-06 but I could. It's stellar in my 22-250, .243, .250Sav, 30-30, and 358. I grew up on "stick" powders!

Got this from slim iorg for my 307 Win. 40.0 grns.of IMR4064 under 170grn. Speer FN bullet.

In .30-06 a 180 gr Speer flat base over 48.0 gr IMR 4064 in a Winchester case with WLR primer for 2660 fps from a Remington 700 24" barrel.

48 grains IMR 4064, 165 Sierra SBT Game King, CCI 200 primer. Very sweet load in both a Remington 760 pump and 742 semi auto. Not super fast, but accurate. Excellent deer load.

I have heard accurate 4064 is easier to load from a few places, including this thread, is it close enough to the imr4064 to interchange loads, or would it be wise to start at a little lower charge than imr's load? I don't have quickload, but someone printed me the load info for the 9.3X62 using a 285gr boolit, at a targeted range of 2000-2200fps. so basically can I use that info with accurate or do I need to find someone to run accurates version on quickload?

Shots at 100 yards. Chrono's at 2850 fps. Probably could be tighter if I match prepped the brass. This is just with mixed brass from my Savage Axis II .270 Winchester. Group size is the same with both bullets I only posted one picture.

Never had much luck with 4064 in cast bullets, but need to redo my test in 30-30 with 150G cast now that I scoped the 30-30 to remove my error with iron sights. It was a pretty shameful ladder test.
