I have a cabin in the northern part of Michigan's lower Peninsula and hunt in a camp in the Western UP...I dare you to bring anything other than Verizon to either places and try to get a connection. Both are fringe, have tried or seen used...T Mobile (can get service if you drive to town 15 miles away) Sprint, At&t, and some other pay as you go service provider. Internet connections in the UP are shaky but phone reception is solid.
I hate paying Verizon's prices...but can't find another service that works where I need it. Once you get away from the big cities and freeways the best company in this area is Verizon.

I'm with starmac and some others with the flip phones. As I've gotten older, and with health problems, I realize the semi-necessity of having one, but all I do or ever intend to do on mine is talk. I like the little flip phone I have and was worried last time I got a new one that there'd be no more, and the smart phones would take over completely. I do OK on a full sized keypad, or on a laptop, but I'd be incredibly inept on a cell phone's pad! If the flip phone sized "communicators" ever get dropped, I'm not sure what I'll do next. I love my little flip phone. Stays out of the way better and all I do or want to do on mine is talk. No games, etc. Just talk. But I guess I'm a real throwback in lots of ways, though, so I guess it's just my obstinance as much as anything that's holding me back???? My lips are already pooched out just thinking about giving up my flip phone!

I have a cell phone booster in my vehicle. No more dropped calls. No more dead battery because the phone is searching for a signal.
Go now and pour yourself a hot one...

With the iPhone's advanced voice recognition software, you rarely never need to type anything on the screen keyboard. I do all my text messaging and emails, notes and to-do lists by just talking to the phone! It s 99% accurate on recognition.....and with zero training as older software required.

I can ever send TM's thru my Lexus's Bluetooth comms in the car while driving.....not typing at all. I just tell it VERBALLY who to address it to and then dictate the message and say send.

So do not worry about your old eyes or stiff fingers..........let your mouth do the typing for you.

I do not know if those android things will do those advanced functions.
