pin gage sets....where to find limited sets.

    i have 8 handguns in 38 to .380 one .44 and 4 .45's

that range from .354 to .363 in sizes of cylinders and bores.
does anyone pin gage set in tens of thousandths

    .3540 thru .3630.........yes, i realize that's 90 pin gages.

    .4290 thru .4320

    .4500 thru .4540

any help on gage sets out there?

You don't need gages in .0001" increments. You need gages in half thousandth increments. Class Z minus (.0002" below size marked).

Gages are made in sets that span .001" with 10 pins in the set in .0001" increments but they are of no use with revolver throats. The difference in getting a .3575" gage in a throat that a .358" gage will not go into isn't worth measuring. It is too fine a measurement to mean anything. Half thousandth increments are perfect for revolver cylinders.
Got a .22 .30 .32 .357 .38 .40 .41 .44 .45 .480 or .500 S&W cylinder that needs throats honed? 9mm, 10mm/40S&W, 45 ACP pistol barrel that won't "plunk" your handloads? 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh cylinder that needs the "step" reamed to 6° 30min chamfer? I bought the entire sets (!) from Enco years ago. It is sure nice to have ALL the pins!!!!! Not just a few odd ones. It never fails, the one you need will be the one you DO NOT have if you do not buy the full set. I do a lot of machine work other than just gun stuff. A complete machine shop is really nice to have.

If you have a good touch you can measure with small hole gauges and a micrometer.

Otherwise just get one of the Chinese sets of Minus .0002 pins on eBay. The are .251 to .500 for about $50 delivered.

+1. Got mine from Enco during monthly 20% off email deal. Excellent quality for the money.

I got two sets of Meyer (USA) gages off ebay for $250 shipped. .251" - .500" and .2515" - .5005" From 1/4" to 1/2" in thousandths and half thousandths, class Z (-.0002") total of 500 pins. Been watching for these exact sets for a good while, finally scored.
