Don, Hold hard and squeeze. Good Luck and have a great time.
Thanks. I'm going to have to cast up about 50 more of those bullets and get them wrapped..
The Nationals are always a good time, altho this one could be a bit on the hot side of things if these temps don't moderate a little bit.

Don, interesting load combinations. Napa rubber cork wad? Never heard of such. What put you on to it ... anyway - looks like the 1000yd doesn't have a chance. Good Luck!
Regards
John
John, Kenny W used that material a while back, and probably still does. It comes in two thicknesses I use mostly the thinner stuff. The felt wads are the Muzzleloader original dry lubed wads intended for use in cap and ball revolvers.
Those winds and mirage at Raton can be a child of the devil at times. I hope to shoot decent, but it's hard to tell what fate will deal. Last year the last time up at 1000, the final score shows 30-x, but that doesn't tell the entire story, and doesn't mention anything about the winds that blew the targets down, then when that little snit fit was over with only 7 shots remaining, never could get back on target. Hoping for better things this year.

Good luck Don. Im trying to get my ducks in a row so I don't miss the Montana 1000 this year.
I know its sacrilege but I'm going to use the 42 Wesson with BH 209. Still gonna be PP tho.
Brian hope you do well at the 1000.

don,
it is always good to see a guy go to a big match with pp bullets.
it is just a matter of time now before they make their presence felt over greasers.
just needs a few more guys like yourself that have gone to the trouble to get a feel for them.
rule no 1. if it works, do it.
keep safe,
bruce.
I just stopped at the Quigley going home from a vacation to see what it is all about. I have to say that I was impressed by the amount of people that I saw on that range. I will make a effort to shoot it next year.
I wonder how many paper patch shooters participated in that match and how they did? Do they have a equipment list?
Keith
Well Bruce we'll sure hope it all works when we get there . My shooting partner Eddie Hayes will be shooting patched as will Kenny W, Bob E will be shooting some patched and beyond that I couldn't say who'll be shooting patched at the BPTR Nationals. There's usually only 2 or 3 of us shooting patched at the Nationals.

Probably about 1/2 dozen or so, Leadpot, Powderburner, Ken Heir, Dick Savage, Bob Watts, Roger (can't remember his last name) and a couple of others maybe.
Most folks don't shoot patched at the Quigley because of the rapid pace, they don't think they have to wipe between shots, and if you get jammed into a bunch of smokeless shooters on your relay it does indeed hurry things.

A 1/2 a dozen don't sound like many from the amount of shooters I seen there. I have seen Kurt "Lead Pot" shoot at Lodi and I know he shoots PP and I know he does well shooting them.
I went through a phase trying to make them shoot but gave up and put up clean the lead out again. Might have to give then another go.
I shot pp placed 137 made my own mold first time out using pp, bullet wt was 528, 82 grs. 2f of OE, 1 .060 poly, 1 .125 felt wad, 2 drops of joba oil on felt.

Gerald I knew you had messed with the patched bullets, but weren't aware you shot them at the Q. Nice shooting by the way.

Maybe one day I will get to go.
Thanks. Make the trip to the nationals, when you can, you'll be glad you did.

DON, I forgot to say that I was using a roller that I put a new Oregon barrel, 16 twist, 30 in. cal was 45-70.
have a good time, and good luck!!
Gerald C
Thanks Gerald will give it my best shot...
Did your wife shoot that same rifle? Seems I saw her name mentioned. Hopefully we get to the same shooting match somewhere along the way again.

Don, no. she was shooting her new CPA 441/2 38-50, that gun is shooting real good, she just need's to shoot it more.
Gerald C
Those CPA's are nice rifles.
Keep us posted on your adventures with that Oregon barrel. I like the 2 that I have.
