Red face Win mod 70 rear sight

Winchester Pre 64 Model 70 Super grade rear sight.
Found this with a bunch of parts in a box.
    This thing is pricey.
    One on ebay now. $185.50.

    Sometimes even I get lucky.

You you selling or just celebrating your good fortune?

Nice sight. If it were mine I wouldn't sell it...

    Sometimes good things happen.
    Even to me.
I'm not sure about keeping or selling.
    I collect old military firearms.
    Older the better.
    It is nice to have.
I'll probably never have another again if I sell it.

that's more than enough reason to keep and buy a gun for the sight!
    Look twice, shoot once.

You are a wise man. I would be on the hunt for a suitable rifle to be a home for it. A .375 H&H would seem a good fit.

    Pleasant with cast loads too.

I use #375449 cast of wheelweights, no GC with 12 grains of Bullseye in mine.

No filler needed, accurate, approximates a .38-55 in energy. Ultimate can plinker!

    Auction ended for it.
    $198.50+$8.00S/H
This is the most I've ever seen a sight go for.
I wonder if there are any other really expensive factory sights.

There sure are - the vintage Marlin/Hepburn rear sight, Savage 1899 Lyman #1-A, 2A & 30-1/2 tang sights, early 1900's Winchester 3 & 4 leaf express sights, and the Lyman #21 come to mind (there are others/more).

I think it only came on the 458 African but Winchester would build almost anything if you paid the price.
