    2MOA Steel @ 1 Mile

I was out this weekend with my brother and our new Savage 112 Target Magnum rifles cambered in .338 Lapua.
I had worked up a sub MOA load @ 300 yards for five rounds using Lapua brass, WLMR primers, Nosler custom competition 300gr bullets and 89gr of H1000 for a MV of right around 2700fps from the 26" tube.

We got the rifles zeroed at 1000yards then shot at the 1500 yard plate. I was able to hit it 4 out of 6 shots. The group was a little over MOA. The wind was gusting 10-15MPH.

After that my brother was first up at the mile target, 1760 yards. He shot 6-7 times before he had to stop and let the barrel cool. I made my adjustments and settled in for my first shot. It was a hit! I was very exited! I shot five more times and only hit it one more time. Then the rain started and shut us down.

I can't wait to get back out to the high dessert of Oregon and try again.

My two hits at a mile are the two on the left of the plate. They are about 12" apart. My brother hit the top right edge of the plate.

Congratulations - I've done the 1000 many times but never tried for a mile - don't have enough scope adjustment in my rifle - working on it. But it's a real thrill to hit at long range.

You need to shoot those rifles in competition. Most of the guys at the 1000yd matches can't match that accuracy...

Ergo the expression..."Reaching out!'...Those rounds are cruise missiles huh? Every shot is powered by enough to send 2 X .308's.

Great accomplishment...wish I had a 'mile medallion' to send you two!

Nice, your just getting dialed in you think casting is addicted, wait until you have a confirmed 2000 yard bullseye.
Do it once and your hooked,it really starts to cost some bucks then
Again Congrats on a grand. Your off and running now,
I have the first 2000 meter confirmed hit ever made on Ft.Riley KS.
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

    WACO,

that is very impressive. I just bought a 112 BA last Wednesday. I was disheartened to see that Savage throated it for the repeater model's 3.681" oal. By adjusting mine down a couple thousandths of an inch at a time, I got just touching the lands with the 300gr Berger about 1/0th of an inch longer seating. Better, but no Seegar! I screwed the seating stem as far out as I could, then started another dummy. With the base of the bullet right at the junction of the shoulder and case body I found an oal of 3.94". I made another dummy round for him to use, and took the rifle over.

I may die before I get it back Friday.

Anyway, what base are you using? I looked at night force, but all they had was a 20moa. There is a company, www.murphyprecision.com that offers them in 0, 10, 20, 30, and 40 moa. Price is comparable to NF.

Have you gone to Berger's site and downloaded their loading data for the 300gr bullet yet?

    thanks,

    Rich
