Very cool indeed. You have a good friend to take the time to build that for you. Did he have a master caster to use as a guide to make the parts?
I keep telling myself that i need to make friends for my MC, but still have not yet done so. I have looked at the balisti-cast machines and wonder how i'd go with making one of those that took 4 moulds to help increase productivity.

Very nice. Unless I go to a MasterCaster type of machine, I fear I will not be able to cast much. Rifle bullets are OK as the molds are light and I do not need a lot of bullets. I cannot handle the 4 and 6 cavity molds for long
Quick question for those who own our have built their own MC: How does the double spout work? Is it just a single valve pretty much like a standard pot that leads to a 2 hole plate? What's the trick to build one?
I have seen some MC copies that use a Lee pot but each cavity is filled one at a time but if I would try to build my own I would prefer to fill both cavities at once.
BlackRat - Exactly how it's done. There is a plate that is screwed on to the spout that has two holes. You can put a single hole plate for single cavity molds too.
My friend doesn't have a master caster to copy. Only a magma mould buyed at ebay. He made machine around the mould.

I haven't been able to see one in person I just went off their exploded view parts drawings.
Blackrat, the MC301& MC302 are the parts that bolt to the bottom of the pot and drop into a single cavity or two. Not sure how a real one is made but mine has a slot machined into it that sits flat up against the bottom of the pot. The needle moves up, lead flows into the slot that diverts it to the two holes.

It's been a while since i removed my plate, but i was pretty sure the slot was cut into the part the disc mounts to.
My valve seat is machined into the bottom of my pot , it's just a tapered hole in the 1/4" plate. I didn't think it was thick enough to machine the slot into it so I just made the diverter thick enough to slot it.
El General how did you set your pour up?
The base of my pot is a good 3/4" thick, so they had heaps of material to work withIt was one if their first models, before they started using heating bands.
I would have never guessed 3/4" I guess it's made from aluminum or pretty heavy.?
It is all steel, and quit heavy. It has two 110v cartridge heaters about 1/2" diameter that are pressed into the base. They must have figured the band heaters worked better, as the new ones use bands not cartridges. The frame of mine is cast iron, not aluminium like the new ones have.
The thermostat was at the front, not the side too. I don't believe it had a fan as standard because of the location of the thermostat.
In a way it's good that the heat comes from the base to hopefully keep the spout from freezing up.

Its been 18 months since I tore my machine apart and we started copying it.
My friend hurt is back about 6 months ago and the work pretty much stopped as its his shop and I can't work unless he is there.
I told him last week that I am out of boolits finally and I need my caster back. I am not gonna cast 4K 40 cal boolits by hand.
But I have made some cool stuff in the past 18 months though....
Threaded multiple rifle barrels.
Made a integral suppressed Ruger MkIII pistol
Made some other parts too.
Anyway great work on making your master caster.
Don't like being hammered by the Cast Boolits Staff, then don't be a nail.
The rules are simple to follow.
Hatch - hopefully he can get back into it soon, i'd like to see what you come up with. I'm with you, after having an automatic machine, you can't go back to hand casting
