    Need a time.

We love grilled sweet corn but I never know when to put the corn on before the steaks.
I also have Portabellas to put melted butter in to grill.
I always have a problem with timing so all is ready at the same time.

I do the corn first and move it to the other side of the smoker/grill to keep warm. Do the steak/s. remove meat, close grill to sort of rewarm the corn.
OR, do the corn, put it in some sort of container maybe lined with foil. I use an enameled oval roaster. Been a while since I cooked for more than four.
If you are doing lots of corn the roaster works great.

I also wrap the corn in tin foil with salt and pepper and throw in the smoker. Now I want some.

Timing is one of the things that my Mom had down to a fraction of a second, I believe, but I'll never have, it seems. I try, and I'm making SOME progress, but .... maybe I'll get it right some day?

I am with you. carol does good at the stove but never uses the grill, my job. Things came out OK today. Carol wrapped corn in foil with water but I put butter on mine and put on flame. I think mine was best and sweeter. It was the corn where they remove most of the leaves. I like corn with all the leaves on them but they were still good. Steamed corn is just boiled.
Venison was super. Shrooms came out too.
For me to do the work on fathers day! What can i say???

Put unshucked corn in microwave. 2-3 min for 1 ear, 5 for 2. When cooked cut completely through the end with a knife. Grab the end with the silks with a oven mitt or pot holder. Wiggle the cut end back and forth to loosen the husks, then pull off removing the husks and silks together in one easy motion. Enjoy.
Off now to pick a few bushels of sweet corn out of the garden.

Here's what works for me. I read about it--didn't invent it. I use charcoal and a Weber kettle. I remove about half the leaves and then wrap the cob in aluminum foil with a couple of ice cubes inside the foil. I put it on the grill when it's still too hot to put the steaks on, and leave it on until the steaks come off, rotating the corn several times during the cooking. The corn stays moister because the ice cubes become steam that is trapped inside the foil.

Soak corn in H2O for at least an hour(in the husk). Remove as much silk as you can and any ragged out husk leaves. Pop it on a hot grill about 5 minutes before the steak goes on(if you take 6-10 minutes to cook the steak, depends on the grill heat...). Flip the corn ever 4-5 minutes and let it steam cook in the husk. I have even peeled the husk back just far enough to get a slab of garlic butter down in there for even more flavor. As you rotate the corn tilt it end to end to spread the butter out.

That has always been my best way but I have also put them on dry or just with butter.
Wetting the husks still adds the flavor they have. The husks smoke the corn.
