Looks like I will be building a cage or having quail for sunday dinner.
Not that my opinion counts however, strawberry and squash stuffed quail sounds wonderful. LOL.

Have to look into that. Not at all familiar with it.

Like a neighbor of mine says, I plant tomatoes, peas, beans, corn in my garden and what do I get? Turkeys. Not quite the garden vegetable, but, tasty.

Well tonight went out and run the quail off but not before they got the rest of the small squash and most of the strawberries. Then wife gets a picture of a prairie dog in the front yard.
Time to order the pellet gun.

If you did the same prep and fertilizer for the soil wouldn't it be about the same?

Not seeing what the bales bring to the party.

If it was easy, anybody could do it.

It works as barrier between the soil diseases and your veggies and is light/porous enough for roots to grow strong and healthy. I haven't done it, but I've seen good results. It also works well as mulch to block light from weeds and prevent them from growing. If I had a surplus/free supply I'd be using them instead of buying mulch.

Thank you guys and ladies for such good.topics, I learn something good new or an reminded of something old everytime, the learning never stops, I'll add one more tip, in my brothers poor soil , they must have planted a fake garden before they sold it to him, any how he built a wooden frame around his bales to help hold them together through the growing season and to have a place to a fix tomato steaks and an harbor for pole beans, winter comes he takes it down puts it in the lean to and leaves the straw one day with it rotting away and the help of my chicken and rabbit poop and ground leaf mulch he will have a proper garden spot, the only thing that grows good there now is onions and garlic.

CCI makes .22 CB Longs. About 550fps and as quiet as my pellet rifle. Less expensive than a new pellet rifle as well.
