I actually made a couple possibles bags many years ago. One when I was a teenager and I used Naugahyde to make it. The shoulder strap is a bit springy, but it still works OK. Later I made a nice leather one from plans I got somewhere. I think it was a black powder magazine at the time. I hit up Tandy Leathercrafts for the materials.

Bags are heavy linen, going to water proof both with coats of linseed oil dried between coats. same as original oil cloth.

When extended woods walking, fairly large haversack on my right side for most goods.

Small bag on my left side for possibles.

If you want cheap, look for a quality natural or brown leather woman's purse at a yard or estate sale. You can deconstruct them and re-sew them inside out and make them look like a real shooting bag. They are basically a cheap source of leather and are usually the right size. I see them every now and then for nothing. They were popular in the 70s.

An Army surplus heavy-duty canvas mechanics tool bag, for which I paid 2 bucks at a local gun-show. = NOT pretty but works fine as it is very STURDY.

My possibles bag is made from blanket material. All my shooting bags are leather. The Metis and Ute did wool shooting bags, and there are examples from a few other tribes. Whites generally used a bark tanned leather.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

A WWII or Korean War-era gas mask bag, the kind that has 3 snaps across the top and has a shoulder strap. When I was in Scouts about 50-something years ago the Scoutmaster brought a box of them to a troop meeting and said everybody gets one. He must have had a connection at the local NG unit that was upgrading or otherwise discarding the old gas masks.

Found a nice sized ladies bag at a Goodwill used clothing shop.
I think it's made from suede pigskin.
I've bought other ladies bags too, but some smell like perfume that won't easily dissipate.
So I supplement that with a Polarfleece fanny pack that can also be worn in the front if I need to carry other items such as for field dressing or dragging a deer.

just put this one together, started it yesterday, finished up today. no plans, just winged it, nothin' fancy, just functional. designed for the way i shoot and the tools and components i like to have on hand for offhand woods walks. did the powder horn up too. handled the russell green river knife as well.

Looks good! I have a possibles bag that I bought from DGW some many years ago. It's just plain smooth leather. I seldom if ever have been shooting with it as I'm restricted to a very light weight since my cancer.

Need a possibles bag, what are you using?

Found a few more. Never saw an angled bag B4. $10!

Suede was my 1st. Flower child purse was mom’s in the 70’s (60’s?).
Probably won’t get converted since the flowers are actually embossed in, not just painted on.

I found a lady's leather bag (purse) at a garage/estate sale and it looked much like these. Been using it ever since. In the field it not only has to have speed loaders but also a boxcutter and , of course, TP.
