    Anyone cast for 458 Socom??

Looking for some info on molds and charges for the 458 socom, Mostly interested in hunting hogs and deer with it, 150 yards or less mostly less. Got this gun on trade haven't shot it yet ( can't find any loaded ammo) but due to ammo cost and I just like to roll my own I working on getting up the reloading goodys as soon as i can although it might take a little long than I plain ( daughter's starting collage ) but I'm going to be working on it when I can get the money together. Thanks.

I have the Radical firearms upper on the RRA lower. Haven't fired it yet but I picked up 500 cast bullets that I purchased off of gunbroker a year before I finished the rifle. Haven't loaded them yet but I haven't seen them offered on GB since then.

Yes home build with RRA upper with the hunter Muzzle brake. Desert Tan furniture extrodinaire accuracy.

I load 460 grain from an accurate mould.
I load a 300 grain WFN also cast from an accurate mould.
300 Grain gas check I load over 29.0 of WW 296.
The 460 grain GC WFN heavy hammers I used AA5744 do not have the data in front of me right now. Great accuracy and hit like afresh the train.

PS .. use something other than fed for large pistol magnum primers.
Fed are soft and thin. Might get a slam fire.
I did only because at the time that all I could find.
I will be switching over to CCI

A little explanation as to how I want groups . Being primarly a deer/hog hunter now (many years as a long range competitive rifle shooter) accuracy is still THE number one objective.
Many years in the field I came to the conclusion shooting 5 or 10 shot groups is great (and does prove consistency in a load ) but in my hunting situations I will get 1 maybe 2 good shots at a single animal so I shifted my thinking to being assured at the first 3 shots (and really the first 2) would be consistent day after day
regardless of 30 to 40 degree changes ..
So with that thinking in mind I shoot 3 shot groups several times in various weather conditions to prove out that consistency . Occasionally a 5 shot group will be done especially if a want a good chrono average. Once this has been completed at least 4 times I call a load good
Also the groups are shot with a cold unfired (as I would go to the stand) rifle . in other words the rifle is brought out in an unfired straight out of the safe condition 1 group is recorded, its cleaned and returned to the safe for another session at a later date
So far this has served me very well in the field
PS 90+% of my shots are 1 shot kills of which I am very proud of. Wounded/suffering animals are my worst hunting fears
