Anyone heard they are going out of business? Talked to a dealer I use off and on and he said he got an email from his supplier saying such?

Remington is in the middle of moving production to their new Huntsville AL plant.
.
I love when rumors are spread. There is no truth to it at this time.
Still there, now called a Remlin. I like mine. Production should increase. Remington bought Marlin and moved to a more gun friendly state.
Now if they would bring back the 39A Mounty, I would be in hog Heaven.
I figured someone got their wires crossed.
Remington is in it for the long haul, too much invested in the modernization of Marlin-for better or worse. We'll be seeing good rifles coming from Remlin but the traditionalists won't be happy. Then again, have they ever been? I wish we could make them that way again but those days are gone.
Quite honestly I hope the new rifles catch on; will make it easier to buy the old ones.

I owned many Marlins that out shot bolt guns. Only one was bad, the .44 Mag with the dumb twist.
If Remington goes that way i would never buy another in .44.
I don't have one and won't buy one but how bad can the Remlins be for 380 bucks at Wallyworld. They're dirt cheap for a brand new gun. I pretty much buy every 30-30 I find for around 300. I have 5 now and a pre 64 32 sp in Winnie. I like the winnies better but have 3 Marlins. I have a lifetime supply of ammo that I bought with one of the Marlins and also the same for the 32. I have too many to waste my time on Remlins but if it was all I could get, I'd shoot em.
As I posted awhile back my recent mfg Remlin 1895 is as good a shooter as my early Guide Gun in 45-70, even likes the same loads. Good action and trigger too, can't ask for much more in a rifle.

At the range the other day a fellow shows up with a newer Remlin, and loads up 6rds, and the first round locks the rifle up solid, the dreaded Marlin jamb! I helped him get it out, and it didn't do it again with two boxes. I sure though that was strange, I've seen pistol caliber Marlins do that, but never a 30wcf.
I saw something similiar once, the extractor claw missed the rim of the case and the bolt slid backwards leaving the case in the chamber. Is this the "Marlin Jamb"??
Remlin "quality" is not just confined to the 336. I ordered a new turkey barrel with rifle sights for my 20 gauge 870 from Centerfire Guns of Colorado. It showed up yesterday and I found that the front and rear sights are not properly aligned. So, when you sight the gun you have a choice of front sight leaning to the left or rear sight leaning to the right. Sent Centerfire a message, hopefully they will just swap it out for me.

OK, so Remington moving from Ilion, NY with the fragmented remains of Marlin (North Haven, CT) and Parker (Meriden, CT) to Huntsville, AL and Winchester moving from New Haven, CT to Columbia, SC...is there a trend here? I think it was Ross Perot who said "The sucking sound you hear is business going south"!
Just to dream, imagine once the dust has settled from the move away from oppression, Remlin producing a faithful repro of the 1889 in .32-20 or the 1893 pistol grip 1/2 octagon, 2/3 magazine in .38-55...maybe not too unrealistic, look at Winchester since F.N. acquired the company.
As far as I know, the model 70 is the only USA made Winchester left, all the rest are imports. Their Miroku made lever actions are very nice and the price reflects it. Well, Connecticut Shotgun Mfg. still makes the model 21 double and they are the official repair place for them also. The 21 is a very pricey custom gun so it is a special case.

I've got 9 Marlin lever actions, 1890s - 1980. The 80 is a 375 which has only been shot 100rds.
The rest of them have never been any trouble and they have been shot 100s if not 1000s of rds.
can say the same about all the pre 64 Winchesters, I own. I have a few pre WW2 Rems that are
well made, but Rems were 2nd rate since they went to stamped parts, and the bean counters have continued to cheapen their products. Not interested in anything Remington makes at any
price.
Please go to marlinowners.com and read the rants and complaints about Remington newly manufactured Marlins (aka: "Remlins") since the move. Not nice.
Sad because I have a 1978 Remington "Wingmaster" that I will never part with. Big Green needs to kick out the corporate "bean counters" and listen. IMHO.

I have an account over at Marlinowners.com.
If you look up my handle there (same as here) you'll see a Marlin 1895 Guide Gun I purchased that had a cracked frame.
Since then, I have purchased 4 of the new 'Remlins' and all of them are tackdrivers.
1- 30-30 336XLR and 3 1895's. One shorty cowboy, 2 guide guns one of which is stainless.
Most of the bugs are fixed nowadays. My cracked rifle was back when they were still trying to get the old Marlin equipment to work.
I'd say buy, just take it down when you get it home and do a thorough cleaning, they tend to be a bit gritty inside.
