Audie Murphy's Gorgeous 1905 Colt Single Action Bisley Revolver

Video shows a really spectacular Colt Bisley revolver that belonged to WWII hero Audie Murphy, and the curator (the very cute curator!) gives an insightful story about Audie Murphy and a bit of his post war background.

The video is a little wonky about getting it to start playing but clicking around on the bar below the screen makes it start and play..

Thanks for that Doug. I also watched the clip on the model 71 Winchester used on the "Winchester '73" set.

Thanks Doug, that was great. As an aside a very good friend of mine was going through Officer Candidate school in the early 60's with a fellow that lived next to Audie Murphy. His friend and their family had just moved into their house when one day this guy noticed Audie trimming his hedges. He walked over to get aquainted and tapped Audie on the shoulder. He said the next thing he knew he was his lying on his back and Audie was apologizing and helping him up. After that he always made sure Audie knew he was coming and he was a great guy to know. Yeah, she is cute. Wonder where she was when I was young? Oh, yeah, she wasn't even born yet.

did anyone notice, does that pistol have a trigger stop set into the frame? It looked as if there is a screw sticking out under the trigger for a stop.

Yeah saw that, might be. Noticed the Smith and Wesson style rear sights inletted into the frame. Shades of Elmer Keith!

    Sights looked like King sights.

Thanks, Doug. Great post. And in addition to being cute, that young lady seems to know what he did and why it mattered, and actually seems to care. Another good young one. They're really not as rare as the media would have us believe. They just don't draw a lot of attention today, so folks just assume they're not there. It's good to see good young ones learning and caring about the history that got us all here. Thanks.

Quite an interesting piece. Too bad these fine firearms can't talk. Oh the stories they could tell.
