I have some loaded up and ready to shoot... just have to get to the range.

That will be a pretty snappy load, I would think 32-35 of IMR 4064 might be better. For hunting this would probably work. You are probably at or over 2,000 fps. What did you size the 311299's to? I never seem to get good accuracy with loads like these in my M1917. At 1500 fps it is a fun shooter. When I go with a faster load, things open up and there is no advantage to a jacketed bullet. It kicks the same and does not group as well. Only testing will show you what you can do. Have fun.

sized to .311
I have a JA slightly worn barrel... otherwise I would load jacketed.
Loaded from Lyman 3rd edition.. cast hand loading manual. All powders start from 1600fps....with rifle powder. Maybe next I'll load up Lymans 48th with faster powder and see.

I recently picked up a M1917 sporter. I've been loading 175 grain Lee FP and 185 Lee "Enfield" boolits. But the most potent load i've pushed them with is 16 gr. 2400 and 20 gr. 4227. My chamber's a little over sized so .313" boolits seem to fit best.
I'm still working on accuracy, but the signs are good.
I use 38grs. of IMR4064 with a Lee 200gr. PC'd with Smokes powder. Shoots great!
Remember the Law of Probability - The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of your act.
I cast for two of them. Both are in original military configuration. I use 20.5 grains of 2400 and it works very well as it does in most other rifles. Cases are trimmed with a Lee trimmer and flash holes made uniform with a Lyman tool as well as cleaning primer pockets. When shooting at a hundred yards, the 500 yard rear sight setting will be very close if not dead on.
mine shoots off tho the right a couple inches high... wonder if mild loads will help.
