Standard Rock Island Armory 1911. Added Hogue rosewood laminate grips, stainless grip screws, Cylinder & Slide medium length trigger. Bobbed hammer. Tried it out. Entire magazine in a paper plate at 25 yds. But, despite the hammer job, it bit me anyway. So, either back to the grinder or a beavertail and Commander hammer.

One I have been after for quite a while. A 1911 that was purchased by the better halfs Great Uncle when he was a fighter pilot in France during WW1. It came home with the body in 1919 and has been in storage by the family since.

Savage mark2 22lr. Threaded. Added boyds custom stock. It is heavy for a 22lr (7 lbs), but I like it.

Well, I didn't buy another new gun. Instead I sold two of my "surplus to my current needs guns" and reinvested those funds into a brand new Labradar chronograph to replace my ancient 40 year old Oehler model 33. Happy, happy, happy ...

Well, I just went and made another purchase today, but again it wasn't a new gun this time. It seems that I'm always "gun rich and scope poor" and a fellow member from my gun club just sold me a used Bushnell Elite 3200 5x15x40mm AO with mil dot reticle at a really good price so of course I couldn't turn it down. Now I have to play "swap a scope" on a couple of rifles. This scope will go onto my wife's .223 Remington VTR for her to use, and the old 4x12 AO Redfield that I'll take off her rifle will get swapped onto a .308 target rifle that I still haven't shot yet ...

Found a MINT Winchester 42 field grade a buddy of mine was selling for a friend. He was trying for $2000 but after several months took $1400. Also just traded into a JC Higgins (Stevens) 311A in 410, extractors and double triggers. Can't tell it's ever seen a shell, 1957 vintage. Grouse should be feeling nervous about their survival prospects for next fall....

Picked up both guns at my FFL last night. The S&W Model 10 NYS turn in is in pretty decent shape, a bit of holster wear particularly around the muzzle, but lockup looks good. It did come with a very nice S&W labeled black leather holster with matching black leather speedloader pouch and a pair of HKS speedloaders. Only issue is the holster and pouch seem to be left handed, I'm ambidextrous so shooting left handed is no big deal, but I don't usually have the holster on my left hip.

The Star BM looks fantastic, came with an original Star box and Spanish language manual and cleaning rod. No wear or even visible scratches, only flaw is the huge CAI import stamp on the slide and new serial number stamped on the frame. Probably add a couple firing pins and ejectors to my next numrich order.

traded a clapped out Savage Model 10 in .308 for a Rem 700 ADL in .30-06. I'm pretty sure someone messed with the headspace in the Sav, because I could never
get it to shoot better than a 3" group with any type of factory ammo. I purchased a Heavy Varmint barrel from a CB member with the intention of building it into something but....

better to let that one (and the barrel) go on down the road and start anew. First thing with that Rem is putting a Timney trigger in it. It's had the Xmark Pro recall performed,
but I want to put the Timney in and give it to my 17 year old for a graduation gift.
