Tuesday I picked up in a private sale a Browning BLR 81 in .308 in the lightweight laminated take down model. It came with a carry case similar to the Savage above. It came with the Browning Scout Barrel Sight Base and a new Vortex 2-7 x 32 scout scope. I've got it laser bore sighed, but it is 95 degrees today and I'm keeping my old bod inside with the AC. The forecast is for the next 10 days to be at least 90 every day and I can't wait for summer. You can see why they call this place Hotlanta. I have a group buy NOE double cavity TLC310-180-RF mold that I'm going to try out one morning early with quenched WW. I will lube with 45-45-10 and fit with plain base GCs. I'll probably try the load written about by C.E. Harris as the "deer/600 yard target" of about 25.0 grains of Varget, or the 16 grain 2400 load for less horsepower.

Had a bunch of gift cards to Cabela’s, and a buddy gave me 500 pieces of 6.5 Creedmoor brass. I no longer have the gift cards, but I do a new Browning X Bolt Long Range in 6.5 CM. Topping it off with a Riton 6-24x50 Mod5 IR/First Focal Plane scope. I’ve never used FFP, and I finally scratched that itch to get a Browning X Bolt. I can’t wait to get the Talley Lightweights I’m so I can go shoot it!

I've been looking for a lighter carry piece...just picked up a Ruger LC9S. Seems like it will fit the bill. Now have to find a suitable IWB holster.

TC Scout rifle. Doesn't look like it has been shot. It's a beauty. Debating on polishing the brass or leaving it alone.

Full auto MP40...…..bb gun. Okay, not a real gun but very realistic in weight, looks, and fun to shoot. Got a bargain price on a refurb. It empties a 50 shot mag in 5 seconds or less. Everyone who shoots it has a smile on their face after emptying a mag.

IZH-46 pellet pistol. Picked it up several weeks ago and have had a blast with it so far. Went up north to visit a buddy last week, we sat on his front porch and drank a few beers, a few brandies and shot a whole bunch of pellets at his swinger targets and the dinger I brought up. And swapped a few tall tales.

    Retirement is fun.

Need to find a better way to carry it, wrapped in an old bath towel and stuffed in a Cabela's "free if you apply for our credit card" bag is not a good thing.

I bought 4 CZ shot guns on closeout. Shot this one and a 410 Ringneck SxS today. I have only shot at 6 clay birds until today. I had a blast. The 410 was surprising. I hit 8 in a row with it.

    Browning 10/71

As a Teenager, I worked as a clerk at the Australian Gas Light Company (we sold gas and gas stoves and heaters, the lights were long gone, except in the head office showroom for display). I worked in Cashiers and Paymasters Department. Occasionally I went on the pay round around the branches in the suburbs of Sydney, Australia. I was given a Browning similar to yours (I don't remember the sights sticking up so much, but it was some 54 years ago. No holsters, just stick it in your pocket if you were an old guy or jam it in your waistband if you were a young un' like me and wore fashionable slim cut pants.

There were four of us, all in suits, very discrete, haha.

Two of the pistols were Brownings and two were Bayards.

Never got to use them. Apparently the old Paymaster was on an escort some ten years previously when he was just a senior clerk and a guy tried to stick them up using a sawn off shotgun. All four opened up and emptied their mags into the guy, two of the gas company guys had a fair bit of birdshot lodged in their legs, but survived, unlike the crook. They threw the shotgun in the boot of the car, left the body on the street and continued with the pay run, dropping the two wounded guys off at the hospital a couple of hours later. No paperwork, cops picked up the shotgun next day from head office.

    HaHa.

Oh for the good old days of sanity and common sense, I still remember when all the bank clerks had one under the counter. Regards Stephen
