Great shooting indeed !!! I swear he uses some special magical Dacron in his load because I never get groups like that . If no one else is gonna give the man credit by naming him I will , Bravo Larry Gibson , the Man helped me out a lot when I first started shooting cast bullets in that same type of rifle in fact .

If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
yes a lot of knowledge left with that man..
its sad that there is no plan/method to redeem oneself after a serious breach.. even in society you are supposed have that opportunity

Larry would be a fool to want to come back. He is good where he is. Nice shooting.

That may be true ..
We were better with him and several others here..
I just know things happen and sometimes the causes are not evident at first and sometimes are correctable ..
Example I had a customer who was an arrogant SO you know for the first 5 to 6 times he came in.
During one conversation he mentioned he was a MS sufferer .. few weeks later he came in a totally different attitude .. Dr had changed his meds and he was a completely different person and has been since..
Once I had a fungus infection Dr have me something that turned me mean as a snake for about 3 weeks .. Wife had to warn everyone as they came in it was the meds talking

Congrats to him. Miss his wealth of knowledge and how he always answered my simple questions with a depth of knowledge (and humbleness) of a true professor of the craft.
great shooting, and I know who the banned person is that shot it, some still think he never shot cast competition.

Ken, I haven't ever noticed that; but if true, I wonder why that is? Jealousy perhaps?
I shot on a couple of military rifle teams with him going back 25 years or so and I competed against him in numerous matches up through the regional level. He is the consummate marksman, gunsmith and sportsman and he was/is always willing to take the time to help a new shooter or fix another shooter's rifle between relays.
I've also shot his cast boolit loads from his different match rifles several times as he has mine. The suggestion that he's never shot in a cast boolit match is pure hog wash and must come from a seriously deluded poster. If in doubt, I invite said poster to look up the results from the recent matches in Phoenix. It's a no brainer.

anyone that say's Larry can't cast or shoot just needs to look up some of his posts.
or needs glasses.
Wow, I guess I missed it. Definitely will miss his expertise, a class act as far as I'm concerned.
]Why does anyone need an assault rifle? My first need is articulated in the US v Miller 1939 decision: every citizen eligible for volunteer or conscript military service, every member of the unorganized militia, should be familiar with his nation's military service rifle, and the service rifles of potential allies and foes as well, to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.
While I like Larry and respect his ability he had a temper problem, he could not suffer disagreement.

I was under the impression that #2 was around as a standard long before any of us were casting for anything..
I also seem to remember 45 2.1 and his anti-Larrys all claiming that #2 was too tin rich for "shooting bugholes".
What else???... Oh, yea... Shooting CBA matches, checking match scores, and getting your name on some recognized winner's list seemed to be pretty important stuff, although they couldn't cite exactly where all their competition scores were.
I'm curious what that group has proven after all this time? Have any of them also actually achieved anything match-related since their exit from here?
In truth, I don't really care what any of them are doing, or have done.
I thought every one of them should have been able to proceed in whatever direction they wanted, and share their observations and results here without being confronted constantly.
Why grown men, pursuing the same interests, can't allow others to attempt what they are unwilling to try... and return here to post freely, always struck me as infantile behavior.
We would do this hobby a favor by encouraging experimentation by others with things we are unfamiliar with, welcoming ideas we find odd to be explored by anyone interested. Results from such experiments are a benefit to us all.
I don't see the point of dragging up past arguments and trying to make points. They're on different forums now, for good reasons, do it there.
If the mods restored all the edited and deleted posts of the band camp, a re-reading of the forum might yield a different opinion of the dearly departed.
In many cases, correct, helpful answers from other folks were drowned out in the bickering, over-explanation, taking sides and self-congratulation.
There is still plenty of expertise here. Maybe now they can be heard, too.
Not all of the narcissists, or their enablers, have "departed".
Hopefully, older accepted truths and newer, not-yet-proven, ideas can be better tolerated here in the future by all.
One of those "old truths" is that any person that thinks they already know it all isn't worth much to anybody.
Anyone remember the movie "Kelly's Heros?"
What was it that Odd Ball stated throughout the movie... I think that was: "Why all the the negative vibes man."
