I hated that when I lived in Montreal. You would just get your driveway cleared out, and then along came the plow and blocked you in again.

i didnt know leeks sprouted so easily. they are up in my leek flat in the south window. the internet says when they reach 5 inches keep them at that by trimming them until you plant them. tomatoes beat the peppers in coming up also.

Here in Stevens Point WI, we had below zero temperatures last week. This week it warmed up. It almost got up to freezing today. Plant you say? PLANT? I suppose we could throw some seeds on top of the frozen ground or on top of the snow.

I started tomatoes and peppers this week. I fall planted garlic, lettuce, spinach, and collards.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

    Handloader, welcome to the Ozarks....

Jon, that's a good bit of snow.....reckon you'll have it dug out by June?.....

It's plenty early here but last week I put in several rows of the early stuff, radishes, spinach, turnips, carrots and the like. They will be fine. Now my wife, she peddles a lot of plants at the Farmers Market and she has something over 1,000 tomato and another 1,000 or more of various peppers up about 3 inches. I have no idea how many thousands of other plants, veggies and flowers, she has started. The basement and green house are at full capacity, I do know that.

I hope to be planting some rhubarb, strawberries and asparagus by end of april.
Next month it is time to think of tomatoes, squash, beans, onions, herbs, peas, broccoli, cabbage, and who knows what else I will find when I go looking for stated plants. I finally have a place to have a garden and can think of what to do with the ground. OH I forgot grape vines, maybe even a couple more peach trees, need to cut down a worthless apple so I have a place for something else.

Family in NYS are enjoying snow, ice and cold weather, figuring maybe by June they can plant a garden.

24 more inches of snow this week. We lost power for 3 hrs but the town next door OUT and does not expect it back for 3 more days. Roads are clear and dry for now and prediction of more snow over the weekend.

We will be starting sets next week to put in the ground mid to late may.

I do that with Miniature Red Okra plants, they get about 30 inches tall, have red and green foliage and yellow flowers that resemble Hibiscus flowers . Look nice in a flower bed , sort of blending in . They make full size Okra pods too. Many people walking by stop and look at them , the red foliage, red okra pods and bright yellow flowers throw them...."What are these plants ?" is a common question.

planted 300 leeks in a compost filled round cattle water tank this morning. top dressed with some nitrogen . expect a lot of good leek and potato soup next winter. also top dressed some small square bales with nitrogen and going to plant the leeks im growing in the window from seed in those bales in 6 weeks and see how that goes. no more planting until the 15th of may when i plant carrots and radishes and green onions.i think leeks are my favorite thing to grow because they grow so easily and taste so good.
