    strange colors in smelt

Has anyone ever gotten strange colors while smelting WW. After it melted it started to get a blue/green/purple, almost swirly psychadellic lol. It even showed up as small blue streaks in the 4 ingots I poured and the tiny amount left over in the pot, i dont know if zinc does that or something else made its way in but ive been through a hundred buckets of WW and never seen this. I dont think its a heat issue but I dont know. Any thoughts

    it's not zinc.
you either had the heat up to 850 or so or you got some super soft lead.
blue is indicative of pure lead.

    Do NOT worry about Zn!

Your colors are normal for over-heated Pb alloys.

Cast away and don't sweat it.

It's sorta like 'shorting out an electrical device', the smoke comes to the top and drifts away. No matter what you do you can't get it back in, now it is 'broke'!
Now you let the 'blue' get out…whatcha gonna do?

    OS OK ...
