    Drag and bake

I enjoy experimentation. I started PC'ing a few months ago, and the first few batches were done by placing the boolits in quart freezer bags and then into a vibratory case tumbler. This worked good, but after some thought and reading here and other forums, I began to wonder if the electrostatic principle could be applied another simpler way.

I dumped 150 cast .357 boolits in a quart bag, added a couple of teaspoons of Harbor Freight Red, sealed it up, and then dragged it over a piece of carpet that lies in front of my loading bench. 30 seconds of dragging it back and forth (picture cleaning the carpet with a scrub brush), then a little hand tumbling of the bag, then another 30 seconds of dragging. I repeated this for 5 minutes, then dumped the bag onto a screen colander placed on a plastic tub to remove excess powder. I cooked them as usual, and they looked as good as my earlier batches.

That same static that snaps you after walking across carpet seems to attract and hold the powder in a similar manor as adding airsoft BB's.

I use the no.5 tub method. I took a piece of scrap carpet left from our install, it was 'wool' carpet, laid it on the table and made circles spinning the tub in contact with the carpet. Did that for a minute or so…opened the lid and waaalaah! When I looked in I couldn't tell any difference at all. Well, so much for that 'brainiac' idea! They coat just fine without the 'magic', it's all about the PC quality, tub, temperature and humidity on the 'coating' part of the process…well, sorta…you still have to hold your mouth just right!

I just swirl the #5 container around for 30 seconds and flip it head over heels 6 times and I'm good to go.

Do have to bite my tongue while I do this, though

I just put them in the container then put the container on/in the vibrator/cleaner for 30 seconds. All done!

Been using cheap glad bowls and dollar store bowls with lids and they split easy after a bit. Replaced with a better bowl. Wish i would have used the Zip-Loc then! Good to know any way.

If you use the freezer bags, they last many, many batches.
