Tomme boy I am sure you are correct sir. I did light both the ones I have made, and then tested with a firesteel. Even then you might want to "fuzz" up the very end a little before trying to light. Will make it light easier, faster. Less wear on the firesteel.
My first one was long, second one was shorter and has a .30-30 case.
One of these nights I should sit down and do a 4 strand diamond braid. Would be rounder, fill the hole better.
I like to have my shell drilled out and ready, when it comes out of the hot wax I feed it up through and slide the brass to the end knot. Seems to help form it round a bit better.
Thinking about trying some pine sap/tar then a coat of wax for my next one.
