    BTSimple 30 cal!

    NEW FOR 2018

    BTSimple 30 cal!

Here it is! What customer's have been waiting for and what I have been hinting at and working on since the release of the successful BTSimiple 22 cal set last year. I have all materials in hand or on order. Even placed an order for new custom reamers for these dies as well.

I will be beginning machine work on these new dies around the end of this month. I expect to have them done with initial machine work and sent to Nitride processing by end of February/middle of March, and back in my hands ready to assemble by end of March.

I will be posting pics very soon of everything these dies can do. They will be same excellent material, style and quality that was built into my BTSimple 22 cal set.

It is my goal that this set of dies will be able to make perfect 30 cal bullets from Commercial Jackets (up to 1.15" in length), FN5.7x28 brass and simple soft roll 5/16" Copper Tubing.

I have set initial prices as listed below (subject to change but I don't expect it to unless something drastic in labor occurs). I have listed the components separately rather then a complete package to allow the customer purchase what best suits their needs.

These dies will work with any decent reloading press.

The customer will be able to cast the cores using a two cavity mold, each cavity will cast a different weight core (numbers off tip of my head here), one cavity will allow for roughly a 180 grain bullet when using the 5.7 brass and the other cavity will be smaller and lighter. The FN5.7 case weights about 60 grains, a Sierra 1.0" 30 cal jacket weights 45 grains. A 1.0" copper tubing jacket should weight about 70 grains.

    So.... some simple math

120 grain lead core should make 180 grain bullet from 5.7 brass, 190 grain bullet from copper tubing and 165 grain bullet from Sierra jacket.

That right there is some pretty good numbers in it's self but maybe a lighter option might be in the cards for say the 308 or 300AAC shooters or even the 30-30 shooters.

Maybe a 90 grain core, with full length or trimmed FN and copper tubing numbers should be about 145-150 for the FN brass depending on if it is trimmed or not and probably the same weight for the copper tubing as it would need to be trimmed shorter. We'll see if the Sierra jacket will make a 135 grain bullet. Could probably find .900" or .800" length commercial jackets for the lighter cores.

Copper tubing will only be making FP lead tip bullet initially, might be a possible full length jacket option but will cost a little extra for additional required base punch, I'll look into it based on results.

Once I have first die set machined I'll post my progress with plenty of pics.

Bullet will have .156 diameter meplat and 9.5s ogive nose profile with a nose length of about .600" Larger meplat diameter is possible (will shorten nose slightly).

More details and pics to come!

As soon as I finish machining first die set and I'm confident offered price is good to go I'll be happy to start taking orders, may even offer slight discount to those trusting enough to pay in full a head of time.

I plan on making a first run of about 10 full sets of these dies, if you are interested in getting a set of these die sets please let me know so I can get you on the list. I usually only do one to two runs of newly machined dies each year so be sure you don't miss out on this first batch.

    I'll keep everyone posted.

Please mark one for me! I will have the deposit to hold a set next week, and pay in full as soon as taxes hit (so they don't get spent). I'd like the full set that you listed, but I would like to add a core swage die to the line-up. This is just a preemptive, as always, we'll work it out in email.

Great products! Can't say enough good things about my experiences!

Good idea. I want a core swage die as well. BT, could you add it to the work order?

I'll look into what it takes for a core swage die in the BTSimple dies and keep everyone posted. I haven't attempted it yet nor do I have the plans drawn up for one on a BTSimple style die yet. It could present a number of challenges in the BTSimple style of dies but I shall see what can be done. I know I have core swage dies available that work with the BTSniper die platform.

Sounds Good. I'm hoping to get control of my weight.

By the way, what's the 9s ogive? Is it pointy or rounded compared to the 22/223

You have a regular core swage die for 375$, would that work?

Yes of course the "regular" BTSniper premium core swage dies are always available and would work.

I'll have pics soon of the bullet.

Ok. I might want to upgrade to a premium point form die too. Not sure about the meplat and the ogive yet.

You guys will be more then happy with the meplat and nose profile of the 30 cal BTSimple.

For my BTSniper premium 30 cal customers that wish to use 5.7X28 brass I offer them a .098" diameter meplat, this BTSimple will have a .155" diameter meplat (and larger if customer wishes). Keep in mind the premium dies will require an auto eject system where this BTSimple will not.

Taking care of a few orders first then will post pics when I get some time for machining the new dies.

Ok just excited, not trying to be pushy. I was sick too. I really like the auto ejector, and want one for the .30's too. I wasnt sure about the wide meplat, because I'll be running these in a Blackout that has already shown a disdain for wider meplat loads. If I have to go to a premium die set with a core swage die, I guess that's an option as well.

So back to your original post... will the 30 simple use all three potential jacket sources out of the box? Or will we need to include the options we are wanting to use?

If customer had commercial jackets and cores all they would need is the $595 dies.

If they wish to use anything else for a jacket or cast their own cores they need the options.

    Did this answer the question?

    BT

p.s. the $595 dies come with one core seat base punch and one point form base punch. The standard core seat base punch works with both the 5.7 brass and most commercial jackets.

What is the difference between the copper tubing jacket maker listed above for 195$, and the one listed on your products and prices page for 795$ ?

With tax season approaching, the possibility exists. I am looking at getting a Walnut Hill press, using lead wire and commercial 308 jackets in the .925 length, to make 112-116 gr competition bullets. Would these dies fit this use?
There is NO subsitute for heavy, large diameter bullets or cubic inches!

My tax return whenever I get it completed (wife is still tallying up her home business receipts but I plan to finish it this week) is already committed to family bills but you are tempting me sorely to do the non-responsible adult thing...
