The PID I bought only goes to 400c or 752F. Opinions on whether this will be good enough? Based upon some searches it seems like it should still be ok?
thanks

My personal opinion .. yes .. see no need to exceed 750 .. Most of mine in between 700 and 725

I am not crazy my mom had me tested
Theres a fine line between genius and crazy .. I'm that line
and depending on the day I might just step over that line !!!
I thought the same of one PID I put together.
Then I read the instructions and found out it was factory set for a thermocouple type which only went to 400 C.
Changing the setting to use the K type TC I was using fixed that.
750 is the hottest I ever cast. So you would probably be fine.
But, track down a good manual for your unit in english, you should be able to program it for a k type thermocouple.
What brand/model did you purchase?

The PID needs to be set for the thermocouple you are using.
I was wondering why the temperatures showing were vastly different between two different PID's.
My cheapo PID from eBay only goes to 400°. Works awesome. my thermocouple is shielded by an acorn but though, so maybe I lose a few degrees that way in shielding.
Find a manual and modify thermocouple parameters as said above. Make shure to use the right thermocouples for your settings, they are identifiable by the color of the wires.
Thanks everyone. C-100V+AN I can look at the front tomorrow and post more details
got it it off easy with a ssr and thermocouple. Too short of a thermocouple and I bought a new one off amazon that's about 6 inches.
