    any monocular users here?

Often wondered how practical and worthy of purchase these are? I usually close one eye when looking thru my binocular and I would love more power to see between 3oo-500 yards. Weight, bulk are big issues with me. I saw a nice Brunton 10x? and the price was good- maybe too good! I have a nice lite 6x35 for close woods activity but I often can see 500 yards from my stand and 10 power would be better than 6. Any thoughts?

I have looked at them many times on the shelf and thought the same thing. Yet I've never met a single person that uses one. I would think that the portability of carrying it in the field would be great.

I actually use one. I have binos that are much better for prolonged viewing, but I tend to leave them in the truck as they are heavy. My monocular is 8x. It is also light as a feather. I have a 10x too but it is poor quality. I do find that the little mono takes a bit longer to put into action because I keep it in my pocket instead of around my neck. It also takes a bit of time to get used to using one. Surprisingly, I do better with both eyes open and just bring 'er up to my master eye. If you are used to having binoculars be sure to take your monocular along instead for a good while until you get used to it. Now I really miss the little fellow if I forget it.

I used one for a while but always went back to small binoculars. Use what works best and get the results desired.

I used to have one. But, it was a 4x off brand Korean or Chinese it think.
It was OK but not the end all of my optical needs.
