    Question Swaging press spring

    Hello,

I was hoping someone could make a recommendation for the type & size spring used on the swaging presses. I had a press made according to "Let make a swage press".

I did read through the thread and a couple people asked but there not any responses.

    Thank you,
    CM

    Hey all,

I think I have a handle on the spring. Unfortunately, I had to order 4 of them.

So if the springs work out, I'll sell the other 3 up on the swaping & selling part of the forum. If I understand the forum rules correctly.

I'll post the details about the springs and where to get them if anyone else is interested when I have had a chance to check them out.

Got the springs. They fit pretty good. They do have burrs where they were cut. After you remove those your good.

So I've got 2 to sell for $18.40 plus shipping. PM me if your interested.

Where I got the springs: http://www.springsfast.com/
    Part Number: C64-187-128 Compression Spring

Unfortunately, you have to order min. of 4 springs. For me, they shipped out the next day.

How much did you end up spending in materials? A friend of mine is going to do the same thing.

I am assuming you are referring to the entire press. I spent around $850 for everything. But I didn't do my own machining. I know of a retired genius GM machinist who machined everything for me. I don't know how much he spent on materials.

If anyone else needs a link to the spring: http://www.springsfast.com/part_deta...rt=C64-187-128

The spring is pretty close to what Corbin uses in the CSP-2 press. I am not a mechanical engineer. All I did was take the dimensions of the spring used in the CSP-2 press and found something similiar that wasn't $70+ for a single spring.
