Got a line on 100 lbs of pewter at $4/lb...to buy or not to buy? That is the question.

Market price for tin is just over $6. Rotometals is about $15. Value where you are is somewhere in between.
Do you have 18,000 pounds of lead to mix it with or a market for what you don't want? You could probably sell it here at a profit over several months.

It don't go stale and you don't have to feed it! I would get it if finances allow.

I spent a lot of time scrounging pewter this summer and ended up with 63 lbs averaging between $2 and $3 per pound. I drove all over to all the area yard sales, flea markets and estate sales, so those prices don't include my gas or time. Probably logged 30 miles per Saturday morning.

Looks like a good deal to me!

    I would and... I would.

Your kidding right? Not a super duper good deal in terms of price compared to finding dibs and dabs at thrift markets and garage sales but considering the going price (which is actual value) is a good amount higher, having enough on hand to meet your tin needs for a great deal of casting, and it having a ready market here for cash due to the need folks have for tin all combine to make buying it if at all within budget a no brainer.

If you decide not to you need to see if you can line up another caster in the area to make the purchase instead, just to keep that tin in the community.
Scrap.... because all the really pithy and emphatic four letter words were taken and we had to describe this source of casting material somehow so we added an "S" to what non casters and wives call what we collect.

Kind of hard to claim to love America while one is hating half the Americans that disagree with you. One nation indivisible requires work.

Buy it all. Sell $400.00 worth. You will then have the remaining stock, free to you.
