    Adventures on the trap line.

When I was young and fur was a good price I sometimes ran a trap line. I learned to never be surprised at what you might catch but this is a first for me.Click image for larger version.

I see the bait is all gone, so there must be a smart mouse still running around. probably told his two brothers they could go first.

I did the reverse. Got one last night the same size. About 3/4 grown. Probably litter mates.

Once got 5 or 6 on a glue trap in a night. I'd hear a rustle, go wack the newest member of the club in the head and replace the trap.

Thank God we don't have a mouse problem. We have a ground squirrel problem, wish I was as successful at catching those critters.

Well! I got home from work and emptied my trap, reset it and about the time I sat down I heard it go off. Another double!
That makes 7 in the last couple days. All the same size, about 3/4 grown. How big are mouse litters?
The little woman doesn't like mice! She's not happy. Maybe she needs a new pair of mouse gloves.

Got three in the same trap in about two hours last week. Nothing since. Bait was cotton string soaked in sausage grease tied around trigger.

Yes I'll think I'll have to keep working. At least thru another trapping season. Unless the price of mouse fur would go up.
How many mice does it take to make a ladies full length coat?

3254, but you're going to have to start catching bigger mice. Those little ones won't bring full price.

The fur is not very prime either. I think it's too warm under the fridge. Bet the ones in the barn are haired up a lot better.

I shot one with my 1911. Killed it dead, but man, did it ever ruin the hide.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!
