Did a search for one and this was on arms dealer site. Same gun I have but with a OD finish. To my knowledge I don't think Lyman makes this sight anymore. So I am looking for a tang mounted peep if anyone has one or knows of one kicking around their work bench. I am assuming there is a home in the threaded post? Most j see have so thing that threads onto a post.

the sight in that picture is a T/C tang sight. they were discontinued a few years ago & prices for them on evil-bay and similar places have gone plumb stupid. you can get the Lyman tang sight from midsouth for a dab over eighty bucks. either the 57sml or the 57gpr will work. you'll have to drill & tap one hole up from the rear tang screw. though the sight will be flat on the bottom, it will tighten right down on the very slight curve of yer tang & work perfectly.

and yes, the sight in the picture should have an aperture screwed into the upright shaft. some people take them out for huntin' to use it like a ghost-ring sight.

    .

AFAIK, the T/C #7197 tang peep sight (left, below) for the T/C New Englander, Treehawk & High Plains Sporter will also fit the Greyhawk.

No, I don't have one, but I'm not teasing, either - I just thought you'd like a pic, so you'll know what your looking for, in your search.

    duckey,
I dug around in a buried box today and found one of the T/C peeps. I believe this one is for the Seneca/Cherokee models. I had it mounted to a T/C Seneca about 30 years ago. The base hole spacing is 1.25" for the sight. I have it attached to another base with hole spacing for the full tang spacing of about 2.6". More recently, I had it mounted on a T/C Hawken. It worked fine on both rifles. The two important specs on these are tang angle and height. However I discovered it is very easy to shim (front, back or both) to adjust for best height and angle. The vertical sight staff needs to be more or less perpendicular to the bore line for best sight picture.

Here's a pic of sight… still mounted to the full length base. Simple mounting using two screws.
If interested in giving it a go, shoot me a PM. I am sure I could beat the $ you are seeing from other sources.

Did you need to shim this on any of you rifles? It appears to have same arc as my tang.

The original sight, with the short attached base, was designed for the T/C Seneca & Cherokee and was on a Seneca about 30 years ago. The longer base is mild steel with holes drilled and countersunk for mounting to a T/C Hawken tang. The curve matches that of the T/C Hawken and other similar tangs.

I paid around $350 for my Grey Gawk about 20 years ago, that didn't include all the goodies to use it. I later scoped it but took it off and went back to iron sights as I was hunting in thick woods with short shots. Now my eyes are having a hard time focusing on the sights/target.

Didnt take long at all to cut, drill and file the rear tang screw hole. Just need a little finish on the metal. Hope to get to the range sooner than later. Thanks fouronesix for the sight. Prompt shipping and a straight shooter.

Well I finally went to the range on Thursday and sighted in. Only had to adjust windage. Third shot was a keeper. Also found some Birchwood CASEY Super Blue and touched up areas I had to file and fit the sight to my tang.
