    356 Win loads

New to the forum and a first time post. I need some suggestions as to a pedestrian load for the .356 Win. I ordered a custom NEI mold several years ago that throws a .359 190 gr PBFN bullet. It looks very much like the ranch dog design.

I am aiming for 1500 to 1600 fps load.

Looking over my powder inventory I have come up with these possibilities:

    700X 10-12gr
    Unique 11-13gr
    Trail Boss 10-11gr
    SR7625 12-14gr.
    Herco 10-12gr
    Red Dot 11-12gr

    I also have:

    Blue Dot
    HS-6
    Bullseye2400
    Titegroup
    R-12
    R-7
    H335
    H380
    231

I know XMP5744 is another good possibility, I am not sure of a good starting point… possibly 20-22 grains.

If you have any experience with a similar load I would appreciate some suggestions.

With the Ranch Dog 359-180 which was the first design I got some very nice groups in my Marlin 336ER (356 WIN) using 27 grains of XMP5744 .

With the second Ranch Dog mould the 359-190 my groups were not quite as good , but I was shooting 24 and 25 grains of XMP5744 .

6pt-sika - Any chance you chrono that load with 190 gr boolit and 5744? Even a guestimate would be helpful.

Nope I busted my Chrony a few years ago and have never bothered to get it fixed or replace it !

Just received a 180 gr .362 Mountain Molds boolit, this should fit the niche I sorely needed in my boolit inventory.

One good pedestrian load for the .356 Win. at approx. 1500 to 1600 fps load is Unique 11-13gr for about 1550 and decent accuracy at 50 yds.

it is the signs that give them away
put 231 and titegroup in that list up there.
about any of them loads should do what you want
and 16gr 2400 should get you there also.
