    The results with the 6-06AI continued in new thread listed below...

    http://castboolits.gunloads.com/show...-grain-bullets!

    Testing the BTSniper 130 grain 6mm VLD bullets in a 243win

    Got a 7 twist 26" long X-Caliber 243win barrel. Loaded up some of my 130 grain pills and got a chance to go out and shoot a few over the weekend.

    Was just braking in new barrel but was able to get some velocity readings.

    Using Fed brass, CCI BR2 primmer, 12 year old H-1000 powder, BTSniper 130 grain VLD seated +.010" into the lands.

    41.0= 2475 fps
    42.0= 2565 fps
    43.0= 2610 fps
    44.0= 2640 fps
    45.0= 2725 fps
    45.5= 2770 fps
    46.0= 2810 fps

    I was experimenting a bit with putting a light layer of swage lube in the barrel and a light layer on bullet barring surface before each shot for first 20 rounds. My theory is that it reduces the copper fouling. The last two groups of 45.5 and 46.0 grains I did not lube the bullets. I don't know if it was the lube or the lube or the lower RPMs of the starting loads but bullets didn't fully stabilize in the 7 twist till I hit the 45.5 grain load and +2750 fps.

    The 45.5 grain load did look to show promise with potential accuracy but really wasn't looking for accuracy yet, just breaking in barrel. Going to send it to Nitride.

    My findings are still out on weather there is any advantage to the lube on the bullets or not? I'll have to do more testing.... did teh lube have anything to do with the slight tumble of the bullets on target, I don't know??? But cleaning the barrel after the last 10 rounds showed little to no copper fouling

    Looked like I might have been able to go a little higher on the load but not much it was pretty full in the case. The 46 grain load didn't look to be over pressured. I might pick up a few additional FPS after nitride, we shall see.

    Will post more results when I get barrel back from nitride.

    Swage on!

    How about a very thin coating of LLA on your bullets. Something along the lines of 1 part LLA to 15 parts mineral spirits
