    Photo notes:

I thought I'd share a trick or two, not that I'm an expert or anything, just a few things I've learned about digital photography with a cheapo camera. Mostly lighting, I always try to use natural light from the sun, as it is the easiest to get good results. It was 2F and sunny this morning and the sun is low this time of year, giving me the sideways shadow, as well as the "shine" on the sunny side. When taking a photo of a single object, I think it's always better to have more things in the photo, even a shadow adds to the list. While I cropped out most everything for the submission, I felt I wanted to post the original untouched photo, for those who may be interested in what one of my submissions start out as.

    1. Wood. This wasn't done on purpose, I suspect some of the larger chunks of sawdust (for fluxing) were spilled onto the towel where I drop boolits onto, the same towel, I sometimes set the mold onto for it to cool down, and somehow one of those larger chunks of sawdust jumped into a cavity.

    2. Any mistake related to cast boolits...which is more than casting, could be tooling related or whatever.

Lead where it shouldn't be, on the ceiling insulation a good 6' above my casting pot. This is what happens when you throw a mostly dry reject back in the pot...
