newbie...looking for a .35 Remington SR barrel or .35 Whelen used barrel

    Hi,
I am looking for a Mauser SR .35 Remington barrel, or perhaps a used .35 Whelen barrel I can cut down and rethread.
I know I can get a nice Green Mountain in .35 Whelen for under $100, but I was thinking maybe less cost and cut down a used one nobody wants.
I have a hard time cutting down a nice new 35 Whelen barrel, but I guess I could if I have to.
Wanting a .35 Remington on one of my SR actions...
    Anybody know of any around?

If you find two I would like one also to put on one of my Turks. Shilen / Brownells has a short chambered, pre threaded that would be very nice but a little pricy for this poor boy.

I am looking to barrel a 1942 Husky M96 to .35 Rem or preferably a .358 Win. How did yours work Out? Recommendations? Mis-steps to Avoid? Did you do it yourself, or a particular Gunsmith? Thanks, hc18flyer

Does Midway still have the A&B barrels?

Almost related, but I got a .270 A&B barrel and it's sweet! I wouldn't hesitate to get another one day. Just FYI. Good luck.

Install a 35 whelen barrel and then load down to where you want the velocity.

I don't think there's enough barrel stub left using a 35 whelen to rechamber to 35 Rem, it may be close though. Best thing is buy a shilen short chamber barrel in 35, or buy a barrel blank and start from scratch. Larry Gibson has a 91 Mauser that he built in 35 Rem, and he absolutely loves it!

Where did you get it from? I don't think Midway carries them anymore? Midway will 'custom order' a Shelin barrel in .35 Remington, July delivery(which would work, except for the $310 pricetag). I have contacted Larry Gibson, and he replied with suggestions for me. I also emailed 'Goodsteel' about it. Thanks, hc18flyer

If you need a different option, you can buy a McGowen Mauser prethreaded and standard chambered #3 contoured 26 inch barrel in 357 caliber, 1-14 or 1-20 twist, flat blued, for $310. I have a couple in my 358 AR guns and they are good barrels.
