What velocity have you been able to reach using plain base gas checks on your plain base boolits? Is 2200 fps possible?

I drive them as fast as regular gas-check shanked boolits. Just be sure to crimp the the PB checks on when the boolit metal is at it's softest, eg immediately after casting or immediately after quenching if heat-treating.
What is a plain base gas check and how are you applying the G.C.?
you slip them over the base then run them through the sizer.
they are usually made from thinner material [.006 or so] so it doesn't disrupt the material too much when sized.
I too, have been interested in making checks and putting them on plain base bullets. from what i have read, all I need is a sizer to push them thru. since i do not cast, i will have to buy one. I have also seen from time to time, some have sold checks. ami thinking right? wallace
I got the .45 PB checks from sagebrush, a member here. Go to sagesoutdoors.com and you will find them. They work great but as suggested, if you are putting them on water dropped bullets...do them right away.
I run mine through a Lee push through base first.
I'd/you'd have to go check through the VS section here to see if anybody carries them.
you could buy a check maker and do your own, or go to the website mentioned above.
Are they as accurate as a boolit that is designed to be used with a GC? I guess the bottom part of a push through sizer is tapered enough to allow the plain base GC to enter without catching on the bottom of the die--right? Pretty nifty idea, if the accuracy is there.
Got to love this site. Somebody here has the expertise and will to help if you need just about any questions answered.
