    Winchester 1873 32-20

How rare are these compared to the 38-40 & 44-40?

Very common in the 73, but a helluva lot of fun. Tom

Ya, my Christmas present to myself! It's on the way. Pics when I get it! I already have one in 44-40, guess I'll have to get a 38-40 sooner or later.

    Greetings
When you get it plan on shooting at least 10 rounds with BP (I use Goex 3F) to find out how accurate it really is (40-1 with a 115 grain boolit does well).
For a smoke less load mine likes 5 grains of Unique. This 73 3rd model has a pitted bore with interrupted rifling so shoots a .315+ the best again cast of 40-1. Sure death on ground hogs out to 35 yards with head and shoulder shots. Still my favorite ditch and brush small gamer.

I picked up one a while back that was found in the crawl space under a house that was being demolished. Bore was shot and barrel was rusted bad so it got another barrel with a liner. Action works fine, wood has a few problems.

I have a round barrel rifle in .32-20. I can it soda cans at 100 yd. with mine. as far as being common. for most common would be the .44-40 then the .32-20 with the .38-40 in last place.

The 22 short would be after the 38-40 in an 1873. There were even a few take downs in 22.
