Scored this pot for $15, know anything about it?

I scored this from an estate sale for $15. It's a herters bottom pour pot. It's crazy heavy, I could crush a lee pot with this bad boy. Any one know anything about it. Thank you. It's amazing the quality when compared to a lee drip matic.

Herters made or contracted for some very good stuff. Plug it in and try it out.

I imagine that it was manufactured for herters by Sacco (sp?) or Lyman, I have a Lyman that is very similar. At $15 you got a super deal.

Hmmm only$20 you know it's better than a $100 looks like a SAECO made pot Even if it doesn't work you have a very good find Deputy Dog can restore it to new for you.he's prices are very reasonable.send him a PM here on the site btw I'll give you a $100plus Shipping for it.
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

Herter didn't make anything for guns really. They had other companies make stuff for them, ala Sportsmansguide or Gander Mountain. Looks very similar to the Santa Anita Engineering Company.

I plugged it in last night and it fired right up. All my lead is in storage right now but in a few days it will be moved out to the new house. I got to reload some 45 colt and 10mm, so good time to try it.

That looks really clean and sleek with out the SAECO style bands around the pot. And moving the temp knob and housing to the side is more ergonomic on that size pot IMO. Like a SAECO but a redesign. Never seen one before but I like it! I'll see oldfart's hundred and raise him .009 of like new headspacing and a pound of magnum caliber lube stars!

That's the same poy marketed by both Lyman and Saeco. I have one as my primary pot and it works great. I spent a lot more than $15 for mine, I'd say you did darn good on that deal.

I use to have all Herter stuff until Rita (Hurricane)came through and took my shop/reloading/radio/man cave away.very good equipment.I am sure that some of it is still in use and hope whoever stole my reloading bench and equipment mash a fingure when they use it.

That pot's a keeper, it was made back in the time that things were made to last. Clean it up and it will out last you, probably needs a new cord but it's a good one

I had a Lyman that I believe (61?) was the same unit. Mine had a damaged detachable cord like an electric skillet when I bought. May have been modified by previous owner. I took it to Ace hardware and matched it up. It fired right up and I used it long time. I thought I had A steal at $50 7 years ago. I traded it couple years ago and last I knew it was still going fine

It looks an awful lot like my Saeco. You got a good deal. I paid $15 for my Saeco back in 1973. I've used it a lot more than fifteen dollars worth, but I upgraded a few years ago to an RCBS.

Hickok, with my excellent memory, I know exactly what you mean, and that was one of the absolute best posts I have ever read.

Looks like a Lyman to me.
If it was easy, anybody could do it.
