    Thumbs up

Yes! That looks like a very handy rifle- I like the design! I'm not familiar with the brand and can't really tell if it is a copy of a specific model... but it looks like a cross between a Rem (M1863) Zouave and a US M1841 with a half stock. What's the barrel length?

I had one of those & it was just as awesome as it looks. mine was made by Antonio Zoli & imported by Navy Arms. I believe the barrel was either 25 or 26 inches. it was called the Buffalo hunter & was a fantasy model based on what you'd get if you "sporterized" a Zouave.

That's it! I vaguely remember them from the 70s. I was trying to figure out the Buffalo Hunt title

I found them in a 1976 catalog with msrp of 160.00. Navy Arms imported them and sold them as the "1855 Buffalo Hunter". Listed with 25 1/2" barrel and a weight of 8 lbs. Very simple design with clean lines.

Val Forgett of Navy Arms fame used one of these with 150 or 200 grain powder charges & bullets of 6 or 7 hundred grains to kill about every type animal in Africa.

Yes, I think he and Nonte conspired on an African hunt to Tanzania in '73. They used both a heavy 58 cal Hawken type rifle (IIRC the "Hawken Hunter") loaded with 180 gr FFF under a 610 gr thick skirted Minié for the heaviest duty. Also used an "1855 Buffalo Hunter" loaded with 125 gr FFF under the same 610 gr bullet.

    Re: Buffalo Hunt

    Hello to all.
The barrel length is 26, rifled 1:66. The brand is a little firm that had build some type of BP rifles and shotguns for other brands. Euroarms, in his 2008 catalog, have a identical gun. I dont know if the Siderarms is still existing. On the web I non find any news on this.
I had also a J.P. Murray cal.58 that you can see an page 12 of the Euroarms catalog.
I attach the pdf 2008 catalog of the Euroarms
    Thanks to all

Thanks of the info on that model. 66" twist should work very well in 58 cal.
